Celebrity Marriages That Have Lasted

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson

If you were wondering what's better than one celebrity then the answer just has to be two. Nothing lends a celeb more clout and credence than a celebrity marriage. Here are some of our favourite celebrity couples who aced the aisle and remain in promising partnerships.

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson

Married since 1988 (that's got to be a lifetime in celebrity circles), Tom and Rita view their relationship as a partnership prioritising give and take on both sides. Although Tom is the better known star, the two have collaborated on numerous acting and producing projects including That Thing You Do and Sleepless in Seattle. Mixing a little business with pleasure has not been detrimental to their marriage.

Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale

Gwen met hubby Gavin when her band No Doubt opened for his band Bush on tour. Despite their high profile lives, the two are regularly pictured enjoying play dates with their two children Kingston and Zuma. Prioritising their families whilst still enabling their careers to flourish seems to have worked well for the striking couple.

Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell

Goldie and Kurt have been together since 1988 (this seems to have been a good year for celebrity relationships...we're looking at you Tom and Rita!). They began dating on the set of their film Swing Shift but had met one another previously, ladling on the chemistry until their love affair began to pop and sizzle. We must confess; Goldie and Kurt are not officially married but have both stated that they see one another as husband and wife.

Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick

Also married in 1988 (what was in the water that year?), Kevin and Kyra serve as cheerleaders for one another, celebrating personal and career based successes and hurtling through failures. Although the two find it hard to be apart, they never detract from one another's dreams. The two merge their passion for one another with pragmatism; they are well aware that marriage requires hard work. All relationships require a little work and marriage retreats are an ideal way to rekindle the fire of infatuation.

Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck

Jennifer and Ben offer a wholesome picture of family life; perhaps it's largely due to Jen's dimples and doe eyes? Blessed with two daughters, the couple met back in 2003 when they stared in Daredevil together. Affleck was notorious for his former relationship with another Jen (Lopez), but the high profile, overtly dramatic relationship seems to have given him a preference for the stability and normality that Garner provides but that doesn't mean boredom - the two always seem blessed to be together.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt

Their union erupted in scandal as Pitt's marriage to America's Sweetheart Jennifer Aniston crashed and burned after he and Jolie met on the set of Mr and Mrs Smith. No foul play was suspected and the two led a truly adventurous love affair dictated by Jolie's love of travel and adopting her rainbow family. Affectionately referred to in media circles as Brangelina, the couple have a total of 6 children, 3 of which are biologically there's and continue to enjoy thriving careers (Brad recently appeared in war epic Fury and Angelina stepped out as story book witch Maleficent.)

Jessica Alba and Cash Warren

Jess and Cash met whilst filming Fantastic Four and have two beautiful, bouncy daughters. The two wed away from the limelight in 2008 and have remained out of the tabloids for the most part. Leading their lives quietly away from La La Land seems to have served the pair well. Jessica's commitment to marriage and family caused her to pen the novel The Honest Life.

Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prince Jr.

Love's young dream has grown up! Sarah (renowned for her role as Buffy in The Vampire Slayer series) and Ryan met on the set of I Know What You Did Last Summer and have been together even since. Where fellow love birds of the time Reese and Ryan came undone, Sarah and Freddie have grown from strength to strength. Married in 2002 and blessed with two daughters, the two put their love first and it shows.

Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart

When these two first met, the naysayers were out in full force but the happy couple have been together for 8 years, marrying in 2010. Proving that large age gaps needn't be detrimental when it comes to true love, the two adopted a son together and remain very much in love.
